Analyst: Ramaphosa overshadows Zuma

The voting statistics for the ANC Top 6 indicate Cyril Ramaphosa’s greater popularity, thus overshadowing re-elected party President Jacob Zuma, says analyst Ralph Mathekga. On Tuesday, conference delegates elected a new leadership replacing Kgalema Motlanthe, Thandi Modise and Mathews Phosa.
Ramaphosa, the newly elected party Deputy President, received 3018 votes, coming second to re-elected Secretary General Gwede Mantashe who was first with 3058 votes. Of the Top 6, President Zuma received the lowest number of total votes – 2983. The infogram below breaks down the election statistics:
