Analyst forecasts De Lille’s end of political career

Political analyst Keith Gottschalk says the suspension of City of Cape Town Mayor Patricia De Lille from the DA potentially signifies the end of her political career.

The party’s federal executive has given De Lille until Monday to furnish it with reasons why she should not resign. It has also suspended her from all party activities.

This follows allegations of tender irregularities and maladministration in the City of Cape Town. A sub-committee that the part had established also investigated irregular upgrades to the mayor’s private home.

” Patricia De Lille projected an image of a feisty individual to box the machine and she attracted a constituency of support but today that loyalty will be mostly to the party the DA and not to her as an individual so the impact on the end of her career is less than it might have been ten years ago,” said Gottschalk.
