Proteas’s opening batsman Hashim Amla has asked to be excused from South Africa’s last two One Day Internationals against Sri Lanka.
According to team manager, Mohammed Moosajee, Amla’s father is critically ill. Amla who missed the first three ODIs, was recalled to the squad for the last two matches in place of Reeza Hendricks.

Hendricks will now rejoin the squad in time for Wednesday’s fourth one-day international in Port Elizabeth.
The Proteas have an unassailable three-nil lead.
Moosajee says that they understand that family obligations come first.
”Our thoughts and prayers are with hash especially during this difficult time. And we understand that family obligations come first. The selectors have decided to add Reeza Hendricks to the squad. He arrived last night. It has been the selector’s intentions to rotate Hashim and Reeza throughout the Sri Lanka one day series.”
