Reading Time: 1 minute

AmaZulu held Swallows FC, the high flying DSTV Premiership rookies, to a goalless draw in a match played at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Sunday afternoon. Swallows are now third on the log after four draws and one win – Usuthu are seventh after three wins and two draws in the last five games.

Swallows FC came into this match fourth on the log.

A win against Amazulu FC would see them join SuperSport United who are third with 31 points.

It would also draw them closer to log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with only two points separating them.

On the other hand, Usuthu visited The Birds having bagged 21 points after 15 matches.

After 15 matches, they have five wins six draws and four losses.

AmaZulu coach, Benni McCarthy, did not take this match lightly. He fielded six former Orlando Pirates players in the starting line-up.

He put his faith on Xola Mlambo, Mbongeni Gumede, Lehlogonolo Majoro, Luvuyo Memela and Augustine Mulenga.

In the second half both teams were cautious not to open up and end up conceding a silly goal.

In the end, they shared the spoils.

The draw means that after 15 matches, Swallows are undefeated in their maiden Premiership season.

Fulltime score, goalless.
