AmaXhosa King, Mpendulo Calvin Zwelonke Sigcawu has died .
Sigcawu died in the early hours of Thursday morning at the Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
The 51-year-old, King Sigcawu was admitted to hospital on Wednesday.
King Sigcawu’s uncle Nkosi Xhanti Sigcawu says, “The Xhosa King, King Zwelonke Sigcawu passed on as we speak we have called all the family members to gather at the palace eQadu and we are all on our way home. It is only when we get home we would be able to inform the nation where to from here.”
The royal House will release a formal statement later on Thursday afternoon.
Sigcawu was born to in 1968 to the third wife of King Xolilizwe Sigcawu, Queen Nozamile. He became the King of the Xhosa people in January 1, 2006.
