Kaizer Chiefs have ended Mamelodi Sundowns’ unbeaten run in the 2020/2021 DSTV Premiership. Amakhosi beat Sundowns by two goals to one (2-1) at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Sunday afternoon to move into the top eight bracket.
Top-of-the-log Brazilians are on 47 points in 22 matches, while Amakhosi are now in position eight on the log with 28 points from their 23 matches.
Our unbeaten start in the #DStvPrem comes to an end at Loftus. Time to regroup and focus on the next one! ?

When Sundowns lock horns with Chiefs, it is always a tightly contested affair. The same was expected when the two clashed in a league encounter in the capital city.
Three minutes into the match, Gaston Sirino unleashed a shot from outside the penalty box. Philani Zulu overlapped on the left flank and gave Chiefs a chance to open the scoring but in vain.
In the half-hour mark, Amakhosi had a glorious opportunity to open the scoring. A minute later, the men from Naturena wasted yet another chance.
And three minutes later, Chiefs were made to rue those missed chances as Sirino showed his class.
Just before the interval, a limping Khama Billiat was substituted. The substitute, Dumisani Zuma, nearly had an immediate impact.
In the second half, Amakhosi were the quickest out of the starting block with Leonardo Castro asking the questions.
They kept on knocking but Onyango was on high alert.

A moment later, however, there was nothing Onyango could do to stop a deflected cross. And Amakhosi were not done. Kermit Erasmus came off the bench and tried to restore parity.
However, Chiefs held on to their lead and handed Sundowns their first defeat of the campaign.

In another match, Golden Arrows who are third on the table were held to a goalless draw by 15th-placed Chippa United.
