Alleged Ekurhuleni rapist faces over 140 charges: NPA

The National Prosecuting Authority says the alleged Ekurhuleni rapist faces over 140 charges.

The accused is expected to apply for bail in the Daveyton Magistrates’ Court in Ekurhuleni this morning.

The man is believed to have raped women from Tembisa, Putfontein and Daveyton between 2018 and January this year.

So far, 25 women have positively identified him during an identity parade.

The NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjane, “He is facing over 145 charges, 44 of those charges are rape, 43 kidnapping, 41 are pointing of firearm and 17 are different other charges. He is facing a schedule 6 offense. The NPA will be opposing bail in the matter.”

The alleged Ekurhuleni rapist went on a rampage in the Ekurhuleni area between 2012 and 2021.
