The Pretoria Magistrate's Court says Ninow is to remain in police custody until the next court appearance on November 1st.

The 20-year-old suspect in the Dros rape case has been identified as Nicholas Ninow.

He is accused of raping a seven-year-old girl at Dros restaurant in Silverton, east of Pretoria.

The Pretoria Magistrate’s Court says Ninow is to remain in police custody until the next court appearance on November 1st.

The matter has been remanded pending further investigations including finalisation of forensic reports.

Earlier, the court ruled that the media would only be allowed to take photographs and not videos in the case.

NPA spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane, speaks of the public’s support for the alleged victim.

“Let us just extend our gratitude to all the people of South Africa who came in support of this victim, and we hope that these visuals will be able to be used by this child when flashbacks of what transpired at Dros come, and then she will be able to draw strength from the visuals and remind herself that she is loved by South Africans, and that her life need not end here”.
