Former Police Commissioner, George Fivaz has declared allegations that hung over the head of the late struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela for the murder of Stompie Seipei as baseless.

In an interview with the eNCA, Fivaz has revealed that an investigation found no evidence that linked Madikizela Mandela to Seipei’s murder.

The African National Congress (ANC) stalwart passed away on Monday. She was 81. Fivaz, who was appointed police chief in 1995, ordered the reopening of Seipei murder case and, says no evidence was found implicating Madikizela-Mandela in the murder.

“They struggled to get the entire document from the police, but the bottom line is that they were not in a position to find any evidence of constructive nature that linked Winnie Mandela personally to the murder of Stompie. There was not a single piece of information that fingered Winnie to say she was responsible maybe personally responsible for the murder that she gave instructions for Stompie to be eliminated. That was not found in terms of evidence,” says Fivaz.
