Some hawkers have packed their goods preparing to leave Pan Africa Mall in Alexandra north of Johannesburg.

This as scores of residents are calling for foreign nationals to leave the area, under the Dudula Movement.

They say this has nothing to do with xenophobia, but rather an attempt to reclaim the economy of locals.

After violent clashes earlier with some foreign nationals armed with stones and sticks, some hawkers have opted to rather leave peacefully.

Shops are being forced to shut their doors as protesters say they add to the high unemployment issue, as they hire foreign nationals over Alex residents.

However, the security at the Freedom supermarket has been resisting closing.

Law enforcement agents are keeping a close eye to try and prevent any more violence from erupting.
