Somalia‘s al-Shabab militants on Monday attacked a United States military base, which is used to launch drone strikes.
Media reports from Somalia, indicate that a suicide car bomber detonated a vehicle packed with the militants have claimed the responsibility for the attack.
The U.S. military uses the airstrip in the Lower Shabelle region about 90 kilometres from the capital Mogadishu as a base where it launches drones that attack al-Shabab.
Since US President Donald Trump took over power, the US has increased its presence in Somalia, with a group of US soldiers training an elite force to fight al-Shabab.
