SAFA's arbitration award resulted in Ajax being automatically relegated to the NFD.

Ajax Cape Town Chairperson Ari Efstathiou says they have accepted that they will have to play their football in the National First Division next season.

He says the outcome of Thursday’s court processes in the Tendai Ndoro matter put them in a very difficult position.

The Premier Soccer League’s application for leave to appeal an earlier ruling in favour of the club was granted by the Johannesburg High Court.

Judge Fischer had previously set aside SAFA’s arbitration award to dock Ajax Cape Town points for fielding the ineligible Zimbabwean International.

That award resulted in Ajax being automatically relegated to the NFD.

“Unfortunately, once again we’ve seen a lot of situations like this time, and legal procedure has basically trumped justice… and we feel very strongly about that… we still believe we have done everything in our power to follow the rules of the league – we are now forced to take our place in the NFD unless something happens, which we are not expecting during the appeal process,” adds Efstathiou.
