AfriForum to prosecute Nomgcobo Jiba

AfriForum’s private prosecution unit has announced its intention to prosecute deputy director of the National Prosecuting Agency, (NPA) advocate Nomgcobo Jiba on charges of fraud, defeating the ends of justice and perjury.

They alleged Jiba committed fraud and perjury during the process of charging General Johan Booysen with racketeering.

Booysen is the former KZN Hawks head. AfriForum says Jiba interfered with Booysen’s investigation on Thoshan Panday, a KZN businessman with close ties to President Jacob Zuma.

Booysen says, “I’ve also opened cases against two other members of the NPA thus far. Those cases are being finalised and I have been advised that they are indeed prima facie cases against both advocates. Should the NPA decline to prosecute them, I will consider my options and to answer your question I will most definitely consider instituting prosecution against Shaun Abrahams in a not too distant future.”
