AfriForum has filed two criminal complaints against the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) boss Shaun Abrahams at the Silverton police station.

Former KwaZulu-Natal Hawks boss Johan Booysen together with the civil rights group AfriForum has filed two criminal complaints against the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) boss Shaun Abrahams  at the Silverton police station.

Booysen says the charges are perjury and defeating the ends of justice.

They follow the recent Pretoria High Court’s judgment which found that Abrahams lied under oath in his court submission on the reasons for withdrawing charges against suspended deputy national director of public prosecutions, Nomgcobo Jiba.

“The charges are one of the under the Commissioner of Oaths Act in that a person made a false statement knowing that it is false and secondly defeating ends of justice. The first statement relates to false statement that both Abrahams and Advocate Mokgatle made in papers to court. The second charge of defeating ends of justice is obviously the fact that Shaun Abrahams has meddled into the prosecution of Jiba,” says Booysen.
