African continent records 195 875 COVID-19 cases

The Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) says the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the continent now stands at 195 875.

The number of deaths has also gone up to 5 334 with 86 068 recoveries recorded.

South Africa has the highest confirmed cases on the continent followed by Egypt, Nigeria and Algeria.

South Africa has surpassed the 50 000 COVID-19 cases mark with 26 099 recoveries and 1080 deaths on Monday night.

Egypt has recorded 1 365 new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in that country to 35 444

Namibia has recorded 31 confirmed cases and 16 recoveries with zero deaths.
