Africa needs to do more to tackle its problems: APRM

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) believes the continent needs better policies for better implementation for democratic order.

APRM Chief Executive Officer Professor Eddy Maloka says Africa is making great strides in applying democratic changes but more still needs to be done.

This comes after APRM held its 14th anniversary, accompanied by discussions in evaluating its impact and effectiveness in Fourways, Johannesburg on Thursday.

Former President Thabo Mbeki, is one APRM’s founding members, was part of the dialogue.

APRM is a self-monitoring tool that is voluntarily agreed to by the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) member-states and the African Union.

The platform allows African countries to evaluate themselves on governance as a way of bringing Africa’s commitment to accountability and prosperity.

Speaking on Morning Live, Maloka says Africans need to find solutions for African problems.
