More than 30 people were killed in Phoenix following the racial tensions during the time of the unrest that engulfed KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and Gauteng. Several other organisations and political parties including the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have also embarked on a similar march to Phoenix.

The movement says a crowd of more than 100 people is expected to descend from the Amaoti Township making its way to the Phoenix Police Station where a memorandum will be handed over.

“Today we are holding a march it will start from Amaoti township to the Phoenix Police Station. The purpose of the march is to deliver to handover memorandum. We demand the establishment of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry,” says the National convenor of this movement, Sifiso Manyala.
