The legal team of the African Content Movement (ACM) says it is yet to receive instructions from party leader, former South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng, on the way forward, following the dismissal of the party’s urgent court application.

The High Court in Johannesburg has dismissed with costs the urgent application that the ACM had brought against the SABC.

In the application, the ACM sought to compel the SABC to broadcast live its 2019 election manifesto in Durban today.

ACM legal representative MacGregor Kufa says, “This matter has a lot of constitutional issues that are of paramount importance. There is section 19, sub section 1 of the constitution, which is the right to politically campaign and the right to have your electoral manifesto which has to be covered by the public broadcaster which is the SABC. We take note of the judgment and we need to study the judgment before we can make any other further assumptions.”
