ACDP leader concerned about voting ink being easily removable

Reading Time: < 1 minute

ADCP leader Kenneth Meshoe says he is very concerned about reports that the ink used to mark voters’ fingers after casting their ballots can easily be removed. Meshoe was speaking to the SABC while visiting the Results Centre in Pretoria. He says reports of this nature are quite troubling.

This year, the traditional indelible ink marker pens are replaced with a liquid that will be applied through disposal buds in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on voting day. According to the IEC, your left thumb must be marked with indelible ink after voting. This is a confirmation that you have voted.
