One of the three men implicated in robbing individuals hiking at nature resorts in Marikana, North West, is scheduled to appear before the Brits Magistrates’ Court today.

Organzo Phenza Mbombe was remanded in custody by the same court last Monday, following a crime intelligence-driven operation initiated after three armed robbery cases were reported in Marikana.

Mbombe, along with the other two suspects, Obvious Moyo and Prince Njove, also faced charges in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court last week in connection with tourist robberies at nature reserves.

In Rustenburg, the trio is accused of armed robbery and extortion, with their next court appearance slated for Thursday.

Reports indicate that victims were robbed of various items, including a firearm, cellphones, and clothing. Allegedly, the suspects compelled the victims to electronically transfer money via cellphone before releasing them.

Police noted that some of the stolen items, firearms, and a toy gun were recovered during the arrests.
