AA welcomes suggestion by Finance Minister on fuel price calculation

The Automobile Association (AA) has welcomed the suggestion by Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana to change the way fuel price is calculated.

Godongwana told Parliament during a question and answer session that government was considering reforming the way the fuel price is calculated.

This comes as fuel prices hit another record high this month, with the inland price rising above R20 a litre.

AA Spokesperson, Layton Beard says this is a step in the right direction.

Mistake in the publication of the new petrol price for December

Earlier this month, the Energy Department said there has been a mistake in the publication of the new petrol price for December.

The actual increase is 75c/ per litre and not 81c/per litre as announced earlier. The hikes were due to a weaker rand and higher oil prices.

The department’s Robert Maake said they have communicated with the petroleum industry and adjustments will be effected immediately.
