A fourth suspect in the cash-in-transit heist that took place at Upington in the Northern Cape earlier this year, has been arrested.

The 38-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Upington Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

He was arrested in Bloemfontein by the Hawks Tactical Team.

Five suspects held up two security guards at gunpoint as they were loading cash at an ATM at Kalahari Mall.

They fled with two cellphones, two hand-guns and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Provincial Hawks spokesperson Nomthandazo Mnisi says, “[The] 38-year-old suspect who was sought by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) in the Northern Cape has been arrested by the tactical response team in Bloemfontein on Sunday.”

“He is expected to appear before [the] Upington Magistrate’s Court. He will join the other co-accused at a later stage. The investigation is ongoing, [and] further arrests have not been ruled out.”
