Research reveals decolonial perspectives of African rugby in SA

Reading Time: < 1 minute

New research delves into the historical narrative of rugby in South Africa, with a focus on uncovering and validating decolonial perspectives.

This comprehensive exploration is encapsulated in the upcoming collaborative book ‘Umboxho,’ involving numerous researchers and academics.

The book not only illuminates the history but also reveals the emergence of the South African non-racial Rugby Board, which stands in stark contrast to the South African Rugby Union.

Dr Buntu Siwisa, a Senior Researcher at the Southern Centre for Equality Studies at Wits University, and Dr Philani Nongogo, a Senior Lecturer in Kinesiology and Coaching Science at the Department of Sport, Rehabilitation, and Dental Sciences at Tshwane University of Technology, offer a deeper insight into this remarkable work.
