President Cyril Ramaphosa says the meeting of developing countries on the sidelines of the G7 Leaders’ Summit in Quebec, Canada, dealt in depth with issues of Climate Change.

Speaking to the SABC in an exclusive interview, Ramaphosa says the sideline summit tackled a number of  challenges, including pollution of oceans which harms and kills marine species.

“The G7 countries held their own summit, this was a follow through which is an outreach that involved a number of other countries, particular from developing countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Haiti, Argentina Bangladesh, Senegal, Vietnam… it was a real wonderful connection of countries that have oceans around them. The issue was the challenge we face – that there’s more plastic now in the oceans than fish. The fish species are endangered by our own human actions by dumping debris – so how can we as human beings change our behaviour? Turn things around.”
