Officials of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Nsfas), together with officials from the Department of Higher Education, will visit three universities in KwaZulu-Natal this week.

Nsfas spokesperson Kagisho Mamabolo says the scheme’s CEO Steven Zwane will lead the team.

Mamabolo says they will conduct discussions with universities management and Student Representative Councils. They will also interact with students who are registering.

He says the team will visit University of Zululand, Mangosuthu University of Technology and Durban University of Technology.

Mamabolo says these visits will be conducted in all higher learning institutions including T-VET colleges across the country.

“The main purpose of these visits is to engage our stakeholders. We also want to make sure that we deliver and improve our services to the students. These visits will give us an opportunity to monitor and to evaluate the support that Nsfas is offering to the institutions especially that now we are implementing free education for the first entering students and also to students that are on Nsfas.”
