Businesses, residents and motorists are starting to feel the effects of the floods in KwaZulu-Natal as several filling stations across the eThekwini Municipality report fuel shortages.
Several stations are limiting the amount of fuel per vehicle. Motorists have been queuing at service stations since Thursday night.
Members of the taxi industry are also concerned around the impact of the shortage of fuel.
Meanwhile, efforts to retrieve the body of a domestic worker from beneath the rubble at a Durban north home are continuing. She was buried when the home collapsed in on her during heavy rains on Monday.

Humanitarian organisation, Gift of the Givers is one of the teams that are on site.
The organisation’s Imtiaz Sooliman says, “Finding the worker under the rubble has been a real challenge on Monday night when the wall fell on the unfortunate individual. The search and rescue team came in the night. It was very difficult to dig. They couldn’t make any progress on Tuesday and negative came from the canine SAPS and they really tried hard but the mud, the level made it very difficult physical manual work. Last night, we couldn’t do anything. There’s a lot of conflict to cut. There’s a lot to go through. It’s hard effort but the weather seems to be the favorite. God willing hopefully, maybe sometime today the person’s body can be retrieved,” says Sooliman.
