South Africa has recorded 926 new coronavirus cases. This brings the total number of cases to 682 215.
The country has also recorded 40 new COVID-19 related fatalities, bringing the total number of deaths to 17 016.
In a statement, Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says most of the new deaths were recorded in the Free State.
“Regrettably, we report 40 more COVID-19 related deaths: “12 from Eastern Cape, 14 from Free State, 5 from Gauteng, 5 from Mpumalanga and 4 from Western Cape,” says Dr Mkhize.
The cumulative number of tests conducted to date is 4 280 340.
The number of recoveries now stands at 615 684, this translates to a recovery rate of 90%.
