DA N West elated at “prestigious” award

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The North West Democratic Alliance (DA NW) is elated to have been awarded the prestigious Best DA Province of the Year Award for 2010-2011.
This award recognises the commitment of so many blue T-shirt wearing people from all walks of life, from the neglected and dusty NW shanty towns to the farming community, from youth at dilapidated schools to students of the NWU at the Potchefstroom and Mahikeng campuses. From amongst these people emerged a deeply motivated passionate band of DA activists – spreading our word of a better future into the NW province.
Team DA NW consists of a healthy combination and interaction of politicians and a professional operational team working hand in hand to promote our vision of an open opportunity society building the DA NW into a formidable organisation. This is in stark contrast with what NW communities increasingly are experiencing, neglected by a system which promotes the self-interest of a selected elitist group, promoting and protecting each other in their lust for power and the control of human and financial resources.
This committed team has taken us from having 63 DA councillors in 2006 to 128 after the 2011 Local Government Elections – a growth of 116%!
Our team flourishes in enthusiastically communicating our brand and message into NW communities: that where the DA governs, governs better. Through our operational team and activists we are occupying areas which would have been regarded as no-go areas in the recent past and in doing so establishing and maintaining a presence in those communities.
Simultaneously our 128 local councillors and 7 MPs and MPLs, all elected after an in-depth selection process, in interaction with the communities they represent, are not only our electorate’s voices in their respective legislative assemblies, but also keep a vigilant oversight over the different levels of government where they are involved in.
We are a team not only carrying our values into our communities but also living it.
-Chris Hattingh, DA North West provincial leader.
