Heavy elections campaign programme for ANC

The African National Congress (ANC) has a busy weekend ahead with a heavy programme of rallies and door-to-door campaigns, as they step up their elections campaign.

Former ANC Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe, will be in KwaZulu Natal, on Saturday 12 April, as part of the ANC’s voter contact programme. He will be in the Mhlathuze Sub-Region in the Musa Dladla Region.

Motlanthe will kick off his day with a briefing meeting at the Vulindlela township’s community hall. The former party’s Deputy President will then conduct a door-to-door campaign in the Mvuzemvuze Voting District before he holds a community meeting at the Nsiwe Voting District.

Motlanthe’s day will end with a mini rally at the Nyezane Sports Grounds, in Gingindlovu.

On the same day, in Gauteng, ANC Treasurer-General, Zweli Mkhize, will be in Soshanguve, Pretoria, where he will be on a door-to-door campaign. He will also visit the Tshwane University of Technology, Soshanguve campus, where he will address a mini rally.

ANC Deputy Secretary-General, Jessie Duarte, will be in Sebokeng at the same time, on a door-to-door before she addresses a mini rally in the area. The party says DA members who have defected from the official opposition party will be welcomed to the ruling party.

Duarte will also address a mini student rally at the North West University Campus Hall.

ANC National Chairperson, Baleka Mbete, will visit the Khutsong Western Hostel in Katlehong. She will also conduct a door-to-door campaign at the Kwesine Hostel, Sontonga Informal Settlement next to Palm Ridge, before she addresses a mini rally in the area.

ANC Secretary-General, Gwede Mantashe, will be in Meadolands, Soweto. He will conduct a door-to-door in Meadowlands and Pimville. In between he will address a mini rally at a stadium in Eldorado Park.

More campaigns will also be rolled on Sunday, April 12.

ANC KZN provincial chairperson, Senzo Mchunu will hit the campaign trail in Mbonambi. Mchunu will lead a door-to-door in Ekuvukeni and Faith Mission. He will later address people at Mzingazi Hall where a community meeting will be held.

A briefing meeting will take place at the Tshingimpisi Hall in the morning.
