South Africa has recorded 989 new COVID-19 infections, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 909 757. This increase represents a 2.9% positivity rate.
The majority of new cases today are from KwaZulu-Natal (20%), followed by Western Cape (19%).
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases has also reported a further 123 COVID-19 related deaths, bringing total fatalities to 88 104 to date.
17 898 602 tests have been conducted in both the public and private sectors.
