India take commanding lead in final test against England

The fifth and final test match between India and England in Dharamsala has moved along at a rapid rate.

At the close of play on day two, the hosts were on 473 for the loss of eight wickets in their first innings, a lead of 255 runs.

India resumed their first innings on 135 for one on the second morning with captain Rohit Sharma on 52 and Shubman Gill on 26.

They both reached three figures, while there were half centuries from Devdutt Padikkal and Sharfaraz Khan as India closed in on a comprehensive four-one series victory.

Shoaib Bashir was England’s most successful bowler.

He finished the day with figures of four for 170 in 44 overs.
