The Electoral Commission (IEC) says it remains firm on its core mandate which is to deliver free and fair elections.
This comes in response to political parties in KwaZulu-Natal allegedly questioning the integrity of the commission.
The IEC briefed the media on its readiness to hold the second national voter registration drive this weekend, the 3rd and 4th of February.
The Commissions Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Akhtari Henning says this is sad allegations.
“We deny any such allegations, we also challenge people that when you make these allegations and you come forth with proof, definitely it will be investigated. But we remain steadfast in the mandate we have been given to be an independent body to exercise the democratic right when you put your mark on that ballot that it actually translates to what you have asked for as a seat in the different legislatures.”
