Freedom Front Plus says it is confident that the Western Cape will have a coalition government after the 2024 National and Provincial Elections.

The party has also called on hundreds of its members and supporters to register to vote in next year’s elections.

The FF-Plus has launched its 2024 election campaign at the Every Nation Church in Goodwood, Cape Town, ahead of next week’s voter registration weekend.

FF Plus Chief Whip Corne Mulder says, “It seems in terms of the opinion polls at the moment that both in KwaZulu-Natal as well as in Gauteng, there will most likely be coalitions. And the interesting thing is this, the latest poll by Ipsos indicates that even in the Western Cape, the DA stands at 44%.  The Western Cape is also going to have a coalition. The Freedom Front Plus will be part of that coalition.”

Changes to Electoral Act

Meanwhile, FF Plus Leader Pieter Groenewald says it is critical for eligible voters to understand that the Electoral Amendment Act has brought changes.

He says they should be aware, that they can only vote in their voting districts for the provincial election.

Groenewald elaborates, “It is very important to know that there is a change in the Electoral Act in terms of independent candidates. You can only vote in the coming elections at the voting stations where you registered. And that is very important. In previous elections, you could have voted for your province at that stage in your province on national in case of South Africa but because of this amendment, because of the electoral act you can only vote at your voting stations, my appeal is please go and vote where you are registered and then you can take off the rest of the day and do as you wish.”
