The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in South Africa now stands at 1 514 815 with 856 new cases reported on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Department of Health also confirmed a further 194 COVID-19 related deaths.
“Eastern Cape 8, Free State 29, Gauteng 43, KwaZulu-Natal 80, Limpopo 15, Mpumalanga 0, North West 0, Northern Cape 7 and Western Cape 12.”
This brings the total related deaths to 50 271. The recoveries now stand at 1 433 320, representing a recovery rate of 94,6%.
So far, the number of healthcare workers that have been vaccinated under the Sisonke Protocol is 76 037.
