768 new coronavirus cases identified in SA

South Africa has recorded 768 new COVID-19 cases, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 2 907 619. 

The majority of new cases today are from KwaZulu-Natal (25%), followed by Western Cape (20%).

This increase represents a 2.7% positivity rate.

The NICD has also reported a further 103 COVID-19 related deaths, bringing total fatalities to 87 922 to date.

17 828 983 tests have been conducted in both the public and private sectors.
