60% of the population of CAR need humanitarian assistance

The International Committee of the Red Cross’s Head of Delegation in the Central African Republic, Valerie Petitpierre, says 60% of the population of Central African Republic urgently need humanitarian assistance.

She says 1.2 million people have been displaced inside or outside the country by the fighting since 2013.

To address the urgent humanitarian crisis, the ICRC improved access to water for 650 000 people, vaccinated 173 000 animals, provided primary health care to over 90 000 people and treated 11 838 people with injuries.
