Correctional Services Minister, Ronald Lamola, has confirmed that 26 people have tested positive for the coronavirus at the East London Correctional Services Centre. These include 23 staff members and three inmates.
Correctional Services spokesperson, Singabakho Nxumalo, says the woman is in a stable condition in hospital.
The department identified other employees who came into contact with her and advised them to self-isolate as they waited to received test results.
The department is still waiting for more results for tests conducted on Saturday.
