A 23 year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Soshanguve Magistrate’s court soon.
He was arrested for attempted rape of a Tshwane University of Technology’s student on the Soshanguve campus Tuesday night.
Police say the suspect accosted the victim with a knife and ordered her to undress.
The victim screamed and a group of students approached the scene, the suspect fled. He was later apprehended by campus security.
Police spokesperson Zanele Mtsweni says the suspect will be charged with grievous bodily harm when he appears in court.
He says: “Fortunately she was not raped, there was no sexual violation that took place. She was however injured as a result of the knife he placed on her neck.”
