The teams scheduled to participate in the draw will discover their paths to possible qualification for the competition when the draw takes place at 19h30 Tuesday evening.

48 countries qualified to participate in the second round of the qualifiers have been seeded into four pots based on the official FIFA ranking released on 31 March 2022.

South Africa, in the second-highest pot, Pot 2, will not avoid the continent’s heavyweights from Pot 1 but should be drawn into a group without opposition of similar strength.

Bafana Bafana is ranked 69th in the latest FIFA world rankings and with the draw based on the rankings, South Africa missed out on being in the top pot by one place as they are ranked 13th in Africa.

The group stage qualifiers start in June this year with only the top two teams in every group progressing to the tournament set for the 23 of June 2023.
