2016 LGE results gave Gauteng ANC time to self-introspect: Makhura

Acting Gauteng African National Congress (ANC) Chairperson, David Makhura, says the 2016 local government election results were good for the party as this gave them time to self-introspect.

He was speaking at a media briefing on the party’s state of readiness for its regional and provincial conference.

In 2016, the ANC lost two metros to the opposition for the first time since 1994.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) will table a motion of no confidence in Makhura on May 15.

Makhura described it as a playful act to try and shake the governing party.

“It’s a desperate election tactic and that’s why the ANC says what they (DA) says that it (ANC) will be defeated it is frivolous.”

The DA says Gauteng deserves a Premier that will care for its residents and the most vulnerable members of society.

John Moodey says he can list more than 100 reasons why Makhura must go including the Esidimeni tragedy that happened under his administration.
