Over 200 Christmas babies born in SA

At least 200 Christmas babies have been delivered across the country. The first Christmas baby is reported to have been delivered just after midnight at the Mankweng hospital in Polokwane in Limpopo.

Close to 100 babies entered the world on Christmas Day in Gauteng and at least 70 in Kwazulu Natal. Scores of little bundles of joy arrived on Christmas Day in other provinces across the country.

Hospitals around Cape Town have been celebrating new born babies on Christmas Day. The first baby boy was born two minutes after midnight at the Mitchells Plain District Hospital.

The delighted mother, Uban Mohammed, expressed her joy at having a baby on Christmas day. Her baby weighed in at just over three kilogrammes. Two other baby girls were born at the same hospital to Wadzanyi Masara and Nosisa Ngubo.

Twenty healthy babies were born in Northern Cape hospitals on Christmas Day. Health practitioners have been busy since the early hours of this morning, to ensure that the delivery of newborns ran smoothly.
