Learners sent home after baboons invade classrooms at N Cape school

Reading Time: < 1 minute

About 1 800 learners were sent back home after baboons invaded the Kathu Primary School in the Northern Cape.

The baboons threatened the safety of both the teachers and learners.

It’s not the first time that the wild animals invaded the school.

Provincial education spokesperson, Geoffrey Van Der Merwe says, “The Northern Cape Department of Education can confirm that the Kathu Primary school was invaded Tuesday morning by baboons. The principal dismissed the learners as well as the educators for their own safety. The Northern Cape Department of Education informed the Department of Environment and Nature Conservation, that is currently attending to this matter, and then we do hope that schooling will return back to normal as from tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.”
