Twelve police officers who were involved in corruption have been dismissed from their posts in the northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

They were dismissed following an internal investigation into corrupt activities at the Kosi Bay and Golela Border Posts. They were arrested earlier in 2017.

Police Spokesperson Jay Naicker has urged the community to provide information about corrupt police officers.

“The project coordinated by the office of the acting national commissioner was established to deal with the challenges identified. The project was very positive and we received a lot of good results in terms of arrest as well as many stolen vehicles that were recovered. During our operations information emerged that some police officers at the border post were corrupt. This resulted in us instituting an undercover operation. Following the operation twelve police officers were nabbed for corruption they were charged criminally and internally,” says Naicker.
