The SAPS in Gauteng says when a police official tests positive necessary measures are taken as stipulated in COVID -19 health protocols.

Southern Cape police are investigating a case of murder following the stabbing to death of a 12-year-old boy from Borcherds in George this week allegedly by an 11-year-old boy.

It is thought that the two got into a fight. The victim sustained a stab wound to the neck and was later declared dead by paramedics on the scene.

“A case of murder following the death of a 12-year-old boy at Bruce Street, Borcherds on Wednesday evening. An 11-year-old boy was taken into custody on Wednesday evening. The boy was released into the care of his parents pending his court appearance on Tuesday morning. The investigation into the matter is still at a very early stage and the investigation continues,” says Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Christopher Spies.

Child on child violence remains one of the challenges democratic South Africa is faced with.

According to 2019 crime statistics, the number of child killers had risen from 47 in 2015 to 736 in 2019.
