Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has fired Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform, Mac-Albert Hengari, following allegations of corruption. Hengari was arrested after allegations of rape and bribe surfaced.
Hengari was fired folowing the allegations that he bribed a rape victim not to report the case.
The dismissal of Hengari aligns with Nandi-Ndaitwah’s stance on corruption. A day before her inauguration, she spoke to the SABC in Namibia and affirmed her commitment to clean governance. She said she will never hesitate to take action against members of the National Assembly who are found to be involved in acts of corruption or violation of the country’s laws.
