1 911 new coronavirus cases recorded in SA, 151 more related deaths

The number of recoveries now stand at 1 406 907, representing a recovery rate of 93,7%.

South Africa has recorded 1 911 new coronavirus cases on Friday, bringing the total number to 1 500 677.  In a statement, the Department of Health has also reported 151 more COVID-19-related deaths.

“Eastern Cape 12; Free State 21; Gauteng 43; Kwa-Zulu Natal 40; Limpopo 1; Mpumalanga 8; North West 0; Northern Cape and Western Cape 26.”

This brings the total number of deaths to 48 859 deaths.

The number of recoveries now stands at 1 406 907, representing a recovery rate of 93,7%.

The cumulative total of tests conducted to date is 8 838 937 with 31 638 new tests recorded since the last report.

Vaccination 

This comes as the vaccination rollout programme continues across the country. The number of healthcare workers vaccinated under the Sisonke Protocol is 6 524 as of 6 pm 19 February 2021.

The first group of health workers in Limpopo received their Johnson and Johnson vaccine, including Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba. The province launched its vaccination drive led by Premier Stan Mathabatha. 7 160 doses will be administered at the Mankweng and the Polokwane Provincial Hospitals.
