1 678 new coronavirus cases reported in SA

Mine workers wearing face masks arrive ahead of their shift, amid a nationwide coronavirus disease (COVID-19) lockdown, at a mine of Sibanye-Stillwater company in Carletonville, South Africa, May 19, 2020.

South Africa has reported 1 678 new COVID-19 cases bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 902 672.

This increase represents a 4.1% positivity rate.

A further 101 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 87 626 to date. 17 690 407 tests have been conducted in both the public and private sectors.
