1 027 new coronavirus cases in SA, 87 more related deaths

South Africa has recorded 1 027 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total to 683 242.

Gauteng has the highest number of cases with 221320, which is 32.4% of the total number of cases.

The number of COVID-related deaths has risen to 17 103.

“Regrettably, we report 87 more COVID-19 related deaths: Four from Eastern Cape, 35 from KwaZulu-Natal, 28 from Gauteng, 5 from North West and 15 from Western Cape,” says the Department of Health in a statement.

The number of recoveries now stands at 616 857 which translates to a recovery rate of 90%.
