Palestinian girl killed in Gaza clashes

A 14-year-old Palestinian girl was killed in a heated battle on the northern Gaza Strip between Islamic Jihad militants and Israeli soldiers. Dozens of Israeli tanks backed by aircraft entered the northern Gaza Strip before dawn.

Attack helicopters fired five missiles at targets. Seven Palestinians have been seriously wounded. This comes as Israel has rejected Hamas’s calls for a ceasefire. It says any lull in fighting will give the Islamic movement a chance to rearm and regroup.

Meanwhile, overnight militants have continued to hit Sederot and Ashkelon with Qassam rockets.
