September 03, 2006, 09:45

A bus and a truck collided today in Isfahan province, south of the Iranian capital, killing at least 27 people and injuring five others, Iran's student news agency ISNA reported.

The bus had 32 passengers on board and the accident occurred at 4.40am, the agency quoted a senior police officer as saying. The officer added that the injured had been transferred to hospital and an investigation was underway.

One person dies every 20 minutes on Iran's dangerous roads.
